Borehole Installation to Support Community Outreach
The Society of Daughters of Mary Immaculate and Collaborators (DMI) is a women-led religious congregation founded in India in 1984. With a mission to empower the most vulnerable—especially women, children, and youth—DMI runs development programs across education, vocational training, agriculture, and community organizing.
In the Diocese of Nagpur, DMI has been serving over 5,000 families since 2016 through initiatives that build self-reliance and dignity. Their work in Tumsar reaches 17 marginalized communities, providing tools and opportunities for long-term transformation. The DMI Sisters' convent in Tumsar currently lacks access to clean, affordable water. Without a borehole, they are forced to purchase low-quality water from outside sources—an unsustainable and costly solution.
This project will fund the drilling of a new borehole and the installation of an electric water motor and a 5,000-liter overhead tank. With this infrastructure, the Sisters will have a reliable water supply for daily use, creating a healthier living environment and freeing them to focus more fully on their pastoral and community work supporting women and children.
Support Clean Water Access
This vital upgrade will eliminate the high cost and health risks of unsafe water—freeing the Sisters to expand their life-changing work with over 2,000 women and 450 children in the community. Funding Needed: 8,700 USD
