TAKUZA Shelter & Empowerment Initiative
Talitha Kum Zambia (TAKUZA) is a faith-based national network committed to eradicating human trafficking through education, advocacy, and direct support for survivors. Operating under the Zambia Association of Sisterhoods (ZAS), TAKUZA collaborates with religious organizations, government agencies, and key stakeholders to promote a society free from human trafficking.
Recognizing the urgent need for safe housing and long-term stability, TAKUZA plans to purchase a 10-acre site in Lusaka and construct a shelter that will provide secure accommodation for 20 young women survivors of trafficking at a time. This shelter will ensure their safety and access to rehabilitation services, offering a critical stepping stone toward reintegration and self-sufficiency. Part of the land will also be utilized for a vocational skills training center to provide economic opportunities to reduce vulnerability to trafficking.
Project Implementation:
Purchase of a 10-acre site in Lusaka to establish both a shelter for survivors and a vocational skills training center.
Construction of a shelter to house up to 20 young women survivors at a time.
Funding Goal: The funding will cover:
Land Purchase: Securing a 10-acre site in Lusaka to establish the shelter.
Construction Costs: Building a safe, secure shelter designed to house multiple residents comfortably.
Essential Furnishings and Supplies: Equipping the shelter with beds, kitchen appliances, and basic living necessities.
