Van for Transportation

Fundación Alas de Colibrí is a dedicated organization established in 2012 by a team of professionals, including a lawyer, psychologist, financial officer, and marketing specialist, all committed to supporting female survivors of sex trafficking in Ecuador. The organization’s work encompasses advocacy programs, education-based prevention efforts, and providing shelter to those in need. Their shelter, Nido de Protección, is one of only three shelters in the country specifically dedicated to female survivors of sex trafficking aged 12-17.

Located on the outskirts of Quito, Nido de Protección offers a safe and supportive environment for up to 30 girls annually, who typically stay for about six months as they undergo court proceedings. Due to the high-security measures necessary to protect these survivors, the girls have limited interaction with the outside community and face restrictions in participating in activities beyond the shelter. The situation is further complicated by the lack of a dedicated transportation vehicle, which forces the shelter to rely on renting private vehicles. Acquiring their own van would allow the girls to participate in recreational activities organized by the agency, facilitate family visits by transporting relatives to the shelter, and meet other essential needs, significantly enhancing their well-being and quality of life.
