Vocational Recovery Shelter for Trafficked Women
Founded in 2006, Starfish Project is a social enterprise dedicated to empowering women who have escaped human trafficking and exploitation. The organization provides holistic care, including safe housing, counseling, healthcare, and vocational training. Through their jewelry social enterprise, women acquire skills in design, photography, accounting, and more, enabling them to build sustainable careers and regain independence
Starfish Project is seeking funding to establish a dedicated residential shelter that will house 10 survivors each year. This safe, trauma-informed space will allow women to begin their healing journey in stability while participating in Starfish’s comprehensive vocational training program. The new shelter model deepens impact by integrating housing with long-term skill development and career support—extending Starfish’s reach and transforming more lives. All residents will participate in Starfish’s proven vocational training program, which includes skills in jewelry-making, graphic design, accounting, and other career paths within their social enterprise model. With over 200 women employed and thousands served to date, the expansion to a residential model enhances both reach and impact.
