Hope Farm Water Access Project
Water scarcity poses a major challenge for the sustainability of the DMI-Spring of Hope Rehabilitation Center in Visiga, Tanzania. Since 2011, Daughters of Mary Immaculate (DMI) has been dedicated to rehabilitating young survivors of human trafficking, providing them with vocational training, psycho-social support, and life skills. Through farming and livestock projects, DMI has worked to create a self-sustaining model that provides both food security and financial independence for the center.
However, the farm’s productivity is severely impacted by water shortages, especially during dry seasons. To address this, the project will establish two water ponds at the Visiga farm, ensuring a consistent and reliable water supply for crops, fruits, vegetables, and livestock throughout the year. This improvement will significantly increase farm output, providing food for the rehabilitation center while generating an estimated $100,000 annually from farm sales. These funds will directly support the long-term sustainability of the rehabilitation program, reducing reliance on external donations.
